He-Man Canoe Trip Route

The standard route follows a loop which begins and ends at Trout Lake (where the cabins are located). Approximately 40 miles are covered during the trip, where a third of these miles are upstream. On the first day we canoe East across the Northern part of Trout Lake, up Stevenson's creek, portage to and paddle across Pallette Lake, portage to and paddle across Lost Canoe Lake, portage to and paddle across White Sand Lake, canoe down White Sand Creek, canoe up the Mantowish River just past Fish Trap Dam--just East of Boulder Junction, WI.  See Alternate Routes for other routes taken on the He-Man.

On the second day we canoe down the Mantowish River through Boulder, Island, and Spider Lakes. We then cross Mantowish Lake and canoe a short ways up Trout River. On the third and final day we canoe up the Trout River through Alder and Wild Rice Lakes, ending on Trout Lake.

In recent years to shorten the third day we camp on Lower Gresham lake.
